Overview

Mount Satopanth (7,075m) is one of the most challenging high-altitude expeditions in the Garhwal Himalayas. Located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, this majestic peak is a part of the Gangotri Glacier region and holds deep religious significance. The name Satopanth translates to the “Path of Truth,” and it is believed that the Pandavas from the Mahabharata took this route to ascend to heaven.

This expedition is an ultimate challenge for experienced climbers, requiring technical skills, endurance, and the ability to navigate through steep ridges, crevasses, and extreme weather conditions.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Dehradun – Drive to Badrinath (330 km | 10-12 hours)
  • Meet at Dehradun early morning

  • Scenic drive through Devprayag, Rudraprayag, Karnaprayag, and Joshimath

  • Reach Badrinath (3,300m) by evening

  • Visit Badrinath Temple (optional)

  • Overnight stay at a guesthouse in Badrinath

Day 2: Acclimatization and Exploration in Badrinath
  • Explore Mana Village (India’s last village)

  • Visit Vyas Gufa and Bhim Pul

  • Trek briefing, equipment check, and acclimatization walk

  • Night stay in Badrinath

Day 3: Badrinath to Laxmi Van (9 km | 6-7 hours)
  • Trek begins with a moderate ascent through lush meadows

  • Cross Alaknanda River via a wooden bridge

  • Walk through dense birch and rhododendron forests

  • Camp at Laxmi Van (3,500m)

Day 4: Laxmi Van to Chakratirtha (8 km | 5-6 hours)
  • Trek through rugged moraines and rocky terrain

  • Magnificent views of Neelkanth Peak and Balakun Peak

  • Reach Chakratirtha (4,200m) – a stunning alpine meadow

  • Set up camp for the night

Day 5: Chakratirtha to Satopanth Base Camp (6 km | 5-6 hours)
  • Challenging trek along the Satopanth Glacier

  • Navigate through moraines, glacial ice, and rocky patches

  • Reach Base Camp (5,100m) with panoramic mountain views

  • Camp setup and final climb preparation

Day 6-7: Acclimatization and Training at Base Camp
  • Rest and acclimatization to high altitude

  • Technical training for rope climbing, ice axe handling, and crampon techniques

  • Practice on fixed ropes and steep ridges

  • Equipment check and final expedition briefing

Day 8: Base Camp to Camp 1 (5 km | 6-7 hours)
  • Steep ascent on ice walls and snow slopes

  • Camp setup at Camp 1 (5,800m)

  • Rest and prepare for the next climb

Day 9: Camp 1 to Camp 2 (4 km | 5-6 hours)
  • Toughest section with fixed rope climbing

  • Climb through glacier ice fields and crevasses

  • Reach Camp 2 (6,400m) for overnight stay

Day 10: Summit Attempt – Camp 2 to Satopanth Peak (7,075m) & Back to Camp 1 (12-14 hours)
  • Midnight summit push to avoid weather changes

  • Steep snow slopes (60-70 degrees incline)

  • Reach Satopanth Peak (7,075m) by sunrise

  • Breathtaking views of Nanda Devi, Chaukhamba, Shivling, and Thalay Sagar

  • Descend back to Camp 1 for rest

Day 11: Camp 1 to Base Camp (5-6 hours)
  • Careful descent through ice walls and rocky ridges

  • Reach Base Camp and rest after a successful summit

Day 12: Base Camp to Chakratirtha (6-7 hours)
  • Return trek through Satopanth Glacier and moraines

  • Reach Chakratirtha Camp

Day 13: Chakratirtha to Laxmi Van (6-7 hours)
  • Gradual descent to Laxmi Van through alpine meadows

 

Day 14: Laxmi Van to Badrinath – Drive to Joshimath (6-7 hours trekking + 3-hour drive)
  • Final trek back to Badrinath

  • Drive to Joshimath (1,875m) for the night

Day 15: Drive from Joshimath to Dehradun (10-12 hours)
  • Drive back to Dehradun

  • Expedition ends

  • Breakfast: Wake-up Tea/Coffee, Biscuits, Aloo Paratha with Achaar, Boiled Egg, Bread with Butter/Jam, Fresh Fruits.

  • Lunch: Roti/Chapati, Rice/Chawal, Manchurian Rice, Salad, Dal (Rajma/Mixed Dal), Mixed-Veg, Kofta Curry.

  • Snacks: Tea/Coffee, Pakoda, Finger Chips, Veg Cutlet, Maggi, Soup, Popcorn.

  • Dinner: Roti/Chapati, Rice/Chawal, Matar Paneer, Mixed Dal, Salad, Papad, Sweets (Gulab Jamun, Jalebi), Fruit Custard.

  • Travel via Joshimath to reach Badrinath

  • If we cancel the trek due to unexpected situations like natural disasters, floods, or political unrest, we will issue a trek voucher instead of a refund. This voucher is valid for one year and can be used for the same or a different trek.

     

Cancellation Due to Personal Reasons:

If you cancel your trek for personal reasons, the following policy applies:

  • No Cash Refunds: We do not provide cash refunds. Instead, a voucher will be issued.

  • Cancellation 30 Days or More Before Trek: A voucher for the full booking amount will be issued.

  • Cancellation 20–29 Days Before Trek: 50% of the booking amount will be deducted, and the remaining amount will be provided as a voucher.

  • Cancellation Less Than 20 Days Before Trek: No voucher will be issued.

It is an extremely difficult climb meant for experienced mountaineers with prior 6,000m+ peak experience.
