Itinerary
Arrive in Dehradun and meet the expedition team. Begin your drive to Sankri, a picturesque village located in the Govind Pashu Vihar Wildlife Sanctuary. The drive offers beautiful views of the Yamuna River, forests, and surrounding mountains. Upon arrival in Sankri, check in at a guesthouse for an overnight stay.
Begin your trek to Seema Village, a quaint village situated at the base of the Bandarpunch massif. The trail follows a gentle ascent through dense forests of oak and pine, with occasional views of the towering peaks. Seema is a small village with a peaceful atmosphere, making it an ideal spot for an overnight camp.
Continue your trek through the scenic landscape to Taluka, a beautiful meadow at the base of the Bandarpunch massif. The trail passes through alpine meadows and offers spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. Once you reach Taluka, set up camp and rest for the night under the stars.
These days will be used for further acclimatization and preparation for the summit push. The trek to Base Camp will involve passing through several moraine fields, streams, and glaciers. The environment will become more challenging as you approach the Base Camp, located at the foot of the Bandarpunch Glacier. During this period, you’ll conduct training on mountaineering techniques, including glacier travel, crevasse rescue, ice climbing, and the use of specialized climbing gear such as crampons and ice axes.
The journey from Base Camp to Camp 1 involves a steep ascent through ice and rock terrain. The climb to Camp 1 will be physically demanding, and the climbers will be guided through snow slopes and rocky sections. Rest days at Camp 1 will allow you to acclimatize to the altitude and prepare for the summit push. The views of the surrounding peaks, including Swargarohini and Kalanag, will be magnificent during this phase.
The ascent from Camp 1 to Camp 2 is a challenging part of the climb that involves technical ice climbing and rock climbing. The route is covered with snow and ice, and trekkers will need to use mountaineering skills to navigate the terrain. Once at Camp 2, climbers will rest and prepare for the final summit attempt. The view from Camp 2 is one of the best on the route, with panoramic vistas of the surrounding peaks.
The final ascent to the summit of Mount Bandarpunch is a thrilling and challenging climb. The summit push requires technical climbing skills as you navigate snow and ice-covered slopes, including steep rock faces. The climb is physically exhausting and demands great mental strength. After several hours of strenuous effort, the summit is reached, offering panoramic views of the surrounding peaks, glaciers, and valleys. The sense of achievement upon reaching the top is incomparable. After spending a short time at the summit, begin the descent back to Camp 2.
After successfully summiting Bandarpunch, begin your descent back to Base Camp. Once at Base Camp, you’ll continue trekking back down through Taluka, retracing your steps through the meadows and forests. Upon reaching Taluka, rest for the night before your journey back to Sankri.
On the final day, descend from Taluka to Sankri and enjoy a relaxed drive back to Dehradun. Reflect on the unforgettable experience and the successful summit of Mount Bandarpunch. Arrive in Dehradun by evening, marking the end of your expedition.
