From the Supin Valley to the City and Back: The Heart of Alpine Seekers

“I didn’t just start a trekking company; I came home.”

My name is Yograj Singh Rana, and I was born and raised in Fitari, a remote village tucked away in the high Himalayas, 40 km beyond Sankri. Growing up in the shadows of the Supin Valley, the mountains weren’t a “destination” for me-they were my home, my playground, and my teacher.

The Journey Away In 2018, like many young people from the mountains, I had to make a difficult choice. To support my family and seek financial stability, I moved down to the plains of Dehradun. For four years, I lived the “city life.” I worked in retail, I spent long nights in BPOs, and eventually, I entered the world of Digital Marketing.

I lived in rented rooms, worked long hours, and learned how the modern world moves. But even while sitting in an office in Dehradun, my heart was always back in the high ridges of the Himalayas.

The Realization I realized that while I was building a career in the city, I was losing my connection to my roots. I saw big companies taking people on treks to my backyard, but often without the deep respect and local knowledge that only a “son of the soil” can provide.

I decided to quit. I chose to leave the security of a monthly paycheck to bring my professional digital skills back to my village.

Why Alpine Seekers? I founded Alpine Seekers to bridge these two worlds. I take the professional standards I learned in the city and combine them with the raw, authentic soul of a Himalayan local.
