Kafni Glacier is a stunning and less-explored trek in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand, located in the Nanda Devi National Park. The glacier lies at an altitude of 3,860 meters (12,664 feet) and serves as the source of the Kafni River, a tributary of the Pindar River. The trek takes you through lush green meadows, dense forests, charming Himalayan villages, and breathtaking snow-covered peaks, offering an offbeat experience compared to other popular Himalayan treks.

Itinerary
Arrive at Kathgodam Railway Station in the morning.

Drive through Almora and Bageshwar, enjoying views of the Kosi and Gomti rivers.
Reach Loharkhet, a small hamlet with beautiful mountain views.
Stay overnight in a guesthouse/tent.
Start the trek with a steep ascent through dense oak and rhododendron forests.

Dhakuri offers a panoramic view of peaks like Nanda Kot and Maiktoli.

A gradual descent through forests and charming Kumaoni villages.

How to Reach Kedarnath
Nearest Airport: Pantnagar Airport (250 km from Loharkhet).
You can take a taxi from Pantnagar to Kathgodam and then proceed by road.
The nearest railway station is Kathgodam, well connected to Delhi, Lucknow, and Kolkata.
From Kathgodam, a 7-8 hour drive will take you to Loharkhet.
Regular buses and taxis are available from Delhi to Kathgodam/Almora/Bageshwar.
From Bageshwar, hire a taxi to reach Loharkhet.

If we cancel the trek due to unexpected situations like natural disasters, floods, or political unrest, we will issue a trek voucher instead of a refund. This voucher is valid for one year and can be used for the same or a different trek.
If you cancel your trek for personal reasons, the following policy applies:
No Cash Refunds: We do not provide cash refunds. Instead, a voucher will be issued.
Cancellation 30 Days or More Before Trek: A voucher for the full booking amount will be issued.
Cancellation 20–29 Days Before Trek: 50% of the booking amount will be deducted, and the remaining amount will be provided as a voucher.
Cancellation Less Than 20 Days Before Trek: No voucher will be issued.
FAQs – We’ve Got All Your Questions Covered!
The trek is moderate and suitable for beginners with good fitness. Some sections, especially the ascent to Kafni Glacier, require stamina and endurance.
We provide guesthouses in villages and tented camps at higher altitudes. Basic facilities such as bedding and meals are included.
Mobile networks are available in Bageshwar and Khati but disappear beyond that. We recommend informing your family before the trek.
- Warm clothes, comfortable trekking shoes, raincoat, gloves, personal medicines, and a power bank.
- Don’t worry! We provide a complete checklist before the trip.
Charging facilities are available in villages but not beyond Khati. Carry a power bank for higher camps.
