Overview
Roopkund Trek is one of India’s most thrilling and mysterious treks, famous for the high-altitude glacial lake that holds centuries-old human skeletons. Located in the Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, this trek offers an extraordinary blend of adventure, mythology, and breathtaking natural beauty. Trekking through dense oak forests, vast alpine meadows, and snow-covered ridges, Roopkund is a must-do for thrill-seekers and nature lovers.

Itinerary
Drive from Kathgodam to Lohajung (300 km | 9-10 hours).
Scenic journey through Almora, Kausani, and Nainital.
Overnight stay in a guesthouse/hotel at Lohajung.
Trek begins through mixed forests of oak and rhododendrons.
Cross the Neel Ganga River before ascending towards Didna.
Stay overnight in a homestay or campsite.
A steep ascent leads to Ali Bugyal, one of Asia’s largest alpine meadows.
Enjoy panoramic views of Trishul and Nanda Ghunti peaks.
Camp overnight at Ali Bugyal or Bedni Bugyal.
Trek through the rolling meadows of Bedni Bugyal.
Cross Ghora Lotani and descend to Patar Nachauni.
Overnight stay in tents.
Gradual climb towards Kalu Vinayak Temple, a revered site.
Trek on steep rocky paths to reach Bhagwabasa base camp.
Overnight stay in tents with stunning views of Trishul.
Early morning ascent to Roopkund Lake.
Witness ancient human skeletons scattered around the lake.
If conditions allow, ascend further to Junargali Pass (16,900 ft).
Descend back to Patar Nachauni for overnight stay.
Descend through scenic meadows and forests.
Reach Lohajung by evening.
Overnight stay in a guesthouse.
Depart from Lohajung to Kathgodam by road.

Taxis and buses are available from Pantnagar to Lohajung.
The nearest railway station is Kathgodam Railway Station (300 km from Lohajung).
Trains from Delhi, Lucknow, and Dehradun are available.
Buses from Delhi to Kathgodam and shared taxis to Lohajung.
Private taxis and buses are available from Haldwani, Almora, and Ranikhet.

If we cancel the trek due to unexpected situations like natural disasters, floods, or political unrest, we will issue a trek voucher instead of a refund. This voucher is valid for one year and can be used for the same or a different trek.
If you cancel your trek for personal reasons, the following policy applies:
No Cash Refunds: We do not provide cash refunds. Instead, a voucher will be issued.
Cancellation 30 Days or More Before Trek: A voucher for the full booking amount will be issued.
Cancellation 20–29 Days Before Trek: 50% of the booking amount will be deducted, and the remaining amount will be provided as a voucher.
Cancellation Less Than 20 Days Before Trek: No voucher will be issued.

Roopkund is known as Skeleton Lake because of the hundreds of human skeletons found at the bottom of the lake, dating back to the 9th century.
It is a moderate to difficult trek with steep climbs, high altitude, and unpredictable weather. Good physical fitness is required.
No mobile network is available beyond Lohajung. It is advised to inform your family before starting the trek.
