Overview

Yamunotri, the sacred source of the Yamuna River, is one of the four revered Char Dham pilgrimage sites in Uttarakhand. Located in the Garhwal Himalayas, this divine destination is home to the Yamunotri Temple, dedicated to Goddess Yamuna. The journey to Yamunotri is filled with breathtaking landscapes, serene valleys, and the thrill of a moderate trek. Pilgrims also visit the Surya Kund, a natural hot spring where devotees cook rice as an offering to the deity.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Haridwar/Rishikesh – Transfer to Barkot
  • Meet our team at Haridwar or Rishikesh and start the scenic drive to Barkot (approx. 7-8 hours).
  • Enjoy the mesmerizing views of Shivalik Hills and Yamuna Valley.
  • Stay overnight in Barkot.
Day 2: Barkot to Janki Chatti – Trek to Yamunotri
  • Drive to Janki Chatti, the base point of the Yamunotri trek (45 km drive).
  • Begin the 6 km trek to Yamunotri Temple via Phool Chatti and Hanuman Chatti.
  • Take a holy dip in the Surya Kund (hot water spring) and offer prasad (rice cooked in the spring’s water).
  • Seek blessings at the Yamunotri Temple and admire the breathtaking beauty of the Bandarpunch Glacier.
  • Trek back to Janki Chatti and drive to Barkot for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Barkot to Haridwar/Rishikesh
  • Enjoy a relaxed morning and start the return journey to Haridwar/Rishikesh.
  • En route, visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Uttarkashi (optional).
  • Stay overnight in Haridwar/Rishikesh or depart as per your schedule.
